Anticipated vacancies are in the following areas: (1) Mathematical Statistics, Probability theory, and Stochastic processes. (2) Topology and Geometry. (3) Applied and Computational Mathematics, numerical analysis, and applied statistics. (4) Complex analysis, harmonic analysis, and Partial differential equations.

Appointments are normally for an initial period of four years.

There are fourteen full time professorial rank faculty in mathematics and about 120 students in the major. The Department offers programs leading to the Bachelor and Master degrees. The Center for Advanced Mathematical Sciences at AUB, within walking distance from the department, also houses research activity in mathematics. The Department offers a large service program in mathematics for the entire University, as for example in Agriculture, Business, Economics, Engineering, the Natural sciences, and the newly introduced graduate program in Computational science.
