RESEARCH ASSISTANT PROFESSOR/SENIOR EPIDEMIOLOGIST
The University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, Division of Pediatric Clinical Research, seeks a Ph.D., MD, or equivalent doctorate level epidemiologist.
The Research Assistant Professor/Senior Epidemiologist will serve as an expert technical advisor for collaborative clinical research projects within the Department of Pediatrics and will be a Research track faculty member of the Division of Pediatric Clinical Research. At least one year relevant post-doctoral work experience required as is a high level of knowledge of statistical programming and methodology; data base programming skills are also preferred.
Duties include: leading a high profile program project with several sites nationwide based at Harvard/Boston Children’s. This program project/consortium is part of the Dana Farber Cancer institute (DFCI) pediatric oncology studies and is central to the Chairman’s portfolio of NIH funding. In addition to leading this project, the Research Assistant Professor will be responsible for initiating and maintaining research collaborations with the Division of Pediatric Clinical Research and the Department of Pediatrics as well as being responsible for the initiation, development, and submission of research grants and peer-reviewed manuscripts. The Research Assistant Professor/Senior Epidemiologist will work in collaboration with members of the Division as well as other University of Miami Medical Center scientists, clinicians, and epidemiologists on research projects.
This Faculty level position reports directly to the Director of Pediatric Clinical Research as well as having a direct line to the Chairman for his research studies including the DFCI program projects.
The ideal candidate will have research experience working on NIH-funded projects, may be independently funded, and will have excellent written and verbal communication skills along with experience working with multidisciplinary research teams. The candidate must be highly skilled in epidemiological research, statistical, and evaluation processes, and teaching, a particular interest in oncology is preferred but not required. S/he must be able to work effectively as part of a collaborative group and also independently.
