TENURE-SYSTEM FACULTY POSITION IN BIOSTATISTICS MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY

The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Michigan State University (MSU) invites applications for a tenure-system faculty position, academic year basis, for its expanding research, teaching and consulting missions. The position is a part of MSU's Global Impact Initiative, designed to address the grand challenges through the creation of over 100 new faculty positions in some of the most promising and exciting fields of research.
The position will be filled at the level of Professor or Associate Professor depending on the qualifications and record of the successful candidate. Applicants must have a PhD in Statistics/Biostatistics, or related quantitative discipline and have previous research and teaching experience. The successful candidate is expected to make significant contributions to research; develop and maintain a vigorous independent and collaborative research program; participate in teaching and mentor junior faculty and graduate students; and provide statistical consultation to graduate students in the department and in the College of Human Medicine. It is envisioned that the candidate will assume a leadership role in the department.
We have interest in candidates with research expertise in several areas including, but not limited to, design and analysis of randomized clinical trials, comparative effectiveness, and healthcare studies. Candidates should have training and experience in applications of novel statistical methodologies to the health sciences. The individual must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the motivation to act as a team member in collaborative research ventures.
The department has 28 faculty conducting research in statistics and epidemiology. Research interests in methods and applications include health services research, longitudinal and correlated data analysis, survival analysis, statistical genetics, and analyses of observational data. A vibrant collaboration exists in research within the department and with other units throughout the university. Currently, in addition to their own research interests, Biostatistics faculty participate actively in research with colleagues in the departments of Economics, Statistics & Probability, Food Science & Nutrition, Veterinary Medicine, Osteopathic Medicine, and Nursing.
