The Department of Mathematics at Western Kentucky University (WKU) invites applications for a tenure-eligible position in Probability/Statistics at the rank of Assistant Professor. The date of employment is August 2018. All qualified candidates working in the areas of probability and statistics are encouraged to apply. The salary is commensurate with the candidate's qualifications, education, and academic experience. The teaching load is 9 hours per semester. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a variety of courses including probability, statistics, analysis, etc., to direct undergraduate research projects and master's theses, and to have an active research program while participating and contributing to department and university service.
Doctorate in Statistics or Mathematics with a concentration in probability at time of appointment; ABDs may be considered with the expectation of completion prior to the date of employment
Evidence of excellence in teaching
Evidence of ability to teach a variety of courses including probability, statistics, and analysis
Evidence of scholarly work in probability/statistics or related topics
Effective oral and written communication skills
Commitment to on-campus scholarly collaboration, possibly interdepartmental
