The Department of Statistics at the University of Central Florida (UCF) is in the process of developing a Ph.D. program in Big Data Analytics and expects to hire a nine-month, tenure-track assistant professor of Statistics anticipated to begin in August 2018. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs and is expected to develop an externally funded, nationally competitive research program in big data analytics.
The Department of Statistics at UCF currently offers a B.S. in Statistics, a B.S. in Actuarial Science, an M.S. in Statistical Computing with a track in Data Mining and, beginning August 2018, a Ph.D. in Big Data Analytics.
A Ph.D. in Statistics or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution by the start of hire is required. All but dissertation (ABD) will be considered as long as the doctorate is completed by the date of hire.
Preference will be given to those with teaching experience in data mining and big data analytics, statistical machine learning, or a willingness to teach courses in these areas.
