The Department of Biostatistics at the University of Kansas Medical Centeris recruiting a tenure track Assistant Professor who will be responsible for collaborative research, independent research, teaching and mentoring. The department consists of 12 Ph.D. statisticians, 4 teaching associates and 12 staff members that include masters level statisticians, information systems personnel and the administrative personnel. The department also has extensive graduate programs with over 50 students across these programs. Expertise within the department includes linear, nonlinear, and longitudinal modeling, clinical trial and experimental design, survival analysis, categorical data analysis, and omics and Bayesian methodology.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
• Assist in the development and continued growth of the Department of Biostatistics. • Provide statistical design and analysis support to investigators on research projects. • Prepare statistical analysis sections for grants, manuscript publications and meeting presentations. • Conduct and publish methodological research in statistics, biostatistics or related journals. • Supervise and mentor master level statisticians or direct them on related projects, for which they provide the PhD statistician with programming support. • Teach in the departments graduate degree programs or other graduate courses provided by the department to the institution. • Mentor and advise students including serving on dissertation committees.

Ph.D. in Biostatistics, statistics or related area. Ability to effectively interact with University and Health Center personnel, scientists, educators and students. Preference will be given to individuals with experience in obtaining extramural grant funding as a primary or co-investigator.
