Astellas is announcing a Data Scientist, Customer Engagement Analytics (CET) opportunity in Northbrook, IL.
The Data Scientist, Customer Engagement Analytics (CET) is a member of the Customer Engagement (CE) Analytics team within Customer Engagement Transformation (CET) organization.
This Manager will be responsible for the following areas:
* Improving commercial decision-making through the development of advanced analytical tools and methods * Using customer level campaign response data, prescribing data, profile data, and other information to develop statistical and analytic models to quantify the impact of promotion campaigns and predict customer trends and behaviors * Determining the optimal promotion campaign recommendation, communicating results to key business stakeholders, and working with a cross-functional team to deploy the results * Developing customer engagement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The Manager will work in close collaboration with all CET teams as well as with other support teams (e.g., Marketing Sciences, Information Technology (IT), Marketing Operations and Sales Operations).
Essential Job Responsibilities:
* Improves commercial decision-making through proactively recommending, creating, and delivering data driven solutions leveraging advanced analytical tools and methods to provide insight into many provider-focused business areas, including segmentation, call targeting, and promotion optimization * Utilizes advanced provider-focused statistical models to assess key drivers of marketing and/or sales impact * Develop models for the Customer Propensity to Act database to predict the likelihood that customers will take specific actions * Simulate the impact of future provider-focused marketing and/or sales activities to identify the optimal result * Design custom analysis tools in applications such as R, Python, Microsoft Excel, and SAS * Synthesize and communicate results to key stakeholders * Collaborate with the promotion strategy, technology, and brand teams to ensure results can be implemented in the marketplace * Develops and maintains a knowledge repository for Customer Engagement (CE) Analytics to ensure capture of and easy access to insights and best practices * Focuses on analytic and reporting process improvements to create efficiencies over time * Shares analytic best practices and continuous improvement across the CE Analytics team * Proactively identifies and addresses opportunities to develop technical skill and leadership capabilities to enable long term CET vision * Analytic projects are issued in a timely manner and appropriately address team needs * Manages multiple analysis projects varying in value (~$50K - $200K range) * Identifies new data needs * Works closely with data feeds from numerous vendors * Manager is an individual contributor * Reports to Assistant Director, Customer Engagement Analytics * The position requires extensive collaboration and partnering within Marketing Science, Sales Operations, Marketing, Health Systems, Information Technology (IT), and other Customer Engagement Transformation (CET) team roles * The position requires influencing CET team members without direct line-management authority
* Minimum Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or Economics * Minimum 7 years relevant work experience in a related field * Minimum 3 years of experience in statistical modeling * Minimum 1 years of experience in marketing analytics and experimental design * Strong background in statistical models, advanced analytics, and programming. * Excellent grasp of current and emerging statistical, analysis, and programming techniques/technologies. * Working knowledge of various statistical modeling techniques and their application within complex analytical projects, e.g., regression modeling, promotion response modeling, ROI, marketing mix, and correlation coefficient * Extensive experience programming in SQL, R, or Python * Experience with or ability to develop proficiency in big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Hive, Hue) * Working knowledge of relational database structures and relationships * Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint * Demonstrated proficiency in managing complex analytical projects and working with cross-functional teams * Strong business knowledge and mindset to provide guidance on how data and analytical methods can be applied (with an understanding of limitations) to answer business questions * Strong communication skills to explain and resolve strategic issues, ability to communicate (verbal and written) technical and non-technical information clearly to a diverse audience * Can effectively define/scope/manage projects and propose structured and practical approaches to simultaneously solve multiple complex and ill-defined problems * Ability to operate in a matrix environment and influence without authority * Is catalyst for change within the organization; conveys a sense of urgency while being flexible and responsive to changing business priorities * High level of intellectual curiosity, self-motivated to solve difficult issues, continually seeking ways to improve
