Visiting Assistant Professor of Applied Statistics, Non-Tenure Track
Center for the Promotion of Research Involving Innovative Statistical Methodology (PRIISM)
New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development invites applications for a non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor position in Applied Statistics to begin September 2017. The appointed faculty member will be part of the Center for the Promotion of Research Involving Innovative Statistical Methodology Applied Statistics (PRIISM).
NYU Steinhardt has one-of-a-kind integration of education, communication, health, and the arts, with eleven departments, seventeen research centers and institutes, 292 full-time faculty and close to 6,000 students. PRIISM is an applied statistics center dedicated to improving the caliber of research in quantitative social, educational, behavioral, allied health, and policy science, both School- and University-wide. PRIISM core faculty are members of a multi-disciplinary department that includes Applied Statisticians, Social Scientists, and Humanities faculty. Position Description: The primary focus of this position is teaching and course development, and the ideal candidate will also have a keen interest in developing, evaluating and applying new statistical methods in collaborative work with faculty and graduate students in PRIISM and other parts of the University whose interests intersect with the PRIISM center. Candidates should have expertise in methods relevant to the social, behavioral, health, or education sciences. The successful candidate will also have strong communication skills in the classroom and in presenting research findings to lay audiences.
Responsibilities: Teach, develop academic courses, advise students at both the undergraduate and graduate level, and supervise students in the master's program in Applied Statistics for Social Science; participate in research? attend faculty meetings; serve on committees? and engage in other service as appropriate.
Qualifications: A doctoral degree in Statistics or a related field, strong teaching experience, and the demonstrated ability to support research programs.
