The Department of Biomedical Informatics (BMI) within the College of Health Solutions (CHS) and the Center for Personalized Diagnostics at the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University (ASU) seek a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The position will have a joint appointment between BMI and Biodesign Institute with a tenure home in BMI. Applicants require sophisticated statistical knowledge and skills in analyzing and communicating large blocks of data generated from high-throughput techniques such as microarrays or next generation sequencing. Independently manage, analyze, and communicate data provided by faculty and collaborators and will help with the design of experiments, analysis, and publication efforts. Independently perform analyses using biostatistics and computational techniques and concepts. Communicate with researchers, database administrators, and programmers, and tests bioinformatics and biostatistical tools developed in-house and provides feedback and recommendations. The successful candidate will be expected to adapt existing statistical approaches to new problems, but also develop new approaches that generate research publications and funded research in the statistical methodology. Requires teaching of courses in related biostatistical methods and applications at the undergraduate or graduate levels. Responsibilities for this position include developing a successful research program, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and mentoring students in research, and providing service to the program and university as well as to the community and profession.
