Master’s level Biostatistician in the Study Design and Biostatistics Center (SDBC) at the University of Utah
The Study Design and Biostatistics Center (SDBC) at the University of Utah is seeking a MS level biostatistician to play a leadership role in collaborations with clinical and translational investigators. The successful candidate will work effectively in a multidisciplinary group setting in areas of design of data collection instruments, study design, statistical programming, analysis of data, statistical graphics and writing of reports which include explanations of the statistical methods used and interpretation of results. The duties of the position require the ability to work with clinical investigators to clarify study objectives, develop appropriate study designs, carry out sample size calculations, and to write statistical analysis plans. Requirements include skills in data analysis, interest in new statistical methods, and mastery of at least one statistical programming language.
We currently have three MS level biostatistician openings available in the areas of:
Position # 1) Health Services Research with a Focus on Comparative Effectiveness Research Questions in Surgery. Experience in analyzing patient outcomes and national surgery-related data sets such as NSQIP, SEER, NIS and statewide administrative databases available through HCUP; and experience with propensity score and instrumental variable analysis is desirable
Position # 2) Congenital Heart Disease and/or Pediatric Acquired Heart Disease. Experience working with administrative datasets and/or multicenter registries (e.g., medical billing datasets, state vital records and datasets from clinical registries (including Centripitus, IMPACT) is desired.
Position # 3) Cancer Biostatistics at the University of Utah’s Huntsman Cancer Institute. Experience working with administrative datasets including medical billing datasets and experience with the analysis of population-level, “omics” data and genetic epidemiological study designs is desirable. Familiarity/experience with data cleaning, database preparation and management using SQL or Proc SQL in SAS is a plus.
