The Department of Public Health Sciences (PHS) of the Penn State College of Medicine is seeking applicants to fill one or two faculty positions (tenured/tenure-eligible) with specialization in Biostatistics. This position will have a primary appointment in the Department of Public Health Sciences. PHS faculty members conduct independent and collaborative research on the etiology, prevention and treatment of diseases and illnesses toward promoting health of all Pennsylvanians and the nation. The Department consists of three academic divisions, namely, Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, Epidemiology, and Health Services and Behavioral Research. There are more than 50 faculty members in the Department (26 tenured/tenure-eligible) and more than 100 supportive staff members. The Department provides strong infrastructure support in biostatistics, study design, data management, research computing, project management and finance and administration. The graduate programs for the Department include an MS in Public Health, a Master of Public Health (MPH), a PhD in Biostatistics and a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) with its inaugural student cohort in Fall of 2016. With its location in Hershey, near Harrisburg, PA, PHS has a strong collaborative relationship with public health scientists and practitioners with the PA Department of Health. One position will function as Principal Investigators and Co-Investigators on NIH-funded data coordinating centers for multi-center clinical and biomedical research networks. A second position will concentrate on Cancer research. Division faculty members also function as Co-Investigators on numerous NIH- and PCORI-funded grants. Applicants with a strong publication record and demonstrated ability or potential to build and sustain a research program are particularly encouraged to apply. The successful candidates will also be expected to contribute to the Department's graduate programs by teaching three-credit course(s) in biostatistics.
