The Stony Brook Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics seeks to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in quantitative finance. The successful candidate should have an established record of scholarship and refereed publications, as well as potential to attract research funding. The candidate must also have a demonstrated ability to teach at the undergraduate and graduate level. While all applicants working within the general areas of interest of financial mathematics/engineering will be considered, preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the ability to perform empirical analysis in finance and/or a good knowledge of the practical implementation of financial regulation. Three to five years of experience teaching quantitative finance is a strong plus.
The department has a number of internationally recognized research programs and is consistently ranked among the top applied mathematics programs in the U.S. The quantitative finance program currently enrolls over 60 MS and PhD students and is deeply involved in interdisciplinary collaborations with the Department of Mathematics, the Department of Economics, and the College of Business. Applicants should send cover letter, research statement, teaching statement, reprints or preprints of research publications, resume/CV, and arrange to have three letters of recommendation emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Consideration of application will begin in spring 2017 and will continue until the position is filled. Stony Brook University is an EEO/AA employer and educator.
