Chevron Oronite Company is accepting online applications for the position of Statistician located in Richmond, California.
The successful candidate will work with a small team of statistical consultants and decision analysts to support Chevron Oronite Products and Technology (P&T) and a variety of other Chevron and industry research clients. The team supports many function areas including business management, product management, chemical research, performance testing, product development, sales, and manufacturing. In addition to support in the U.S., the position provides statistical support globally.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
The consultant deploys effective statistical analyses, statistical problem solving, and optimization techniques (e.g., experimental designs, predictive modeling, multivariate methods, hypothesis testing, sample size estimation) to improve decision making, facilitate exploratory chemistry, validate marketing claims, improve process capability, and develop strategic positions.
Master’s degree in Statistics or Biostatistics with five years or more experience as statistician employed outside academia, or PhD degree in Statistics or Biostatistics with six months or more experience as statistician employed outside academia
Ability to learn and evaluate technical information to synthesize meaningful conclusions and recommendations
Degree or work experience in physical sciences such as chemistry or engineering
Demonstrated competence with linear models, experimental design, and relevant software (SAS, JMP, R, or S+)
Demonstrated effective communication skills (face-to-face meetings, presentations, written, verbal)
Strong consulting skills with ability to influence with integrity
PhD is preferred
Teamwork experience based on trust, ingenuity, and partnership
Demonstrated ability to lead through high performance vision and embracing diversity
Knowledge and experience with statistics as applied to technology development, decision making, chemistry, and manufacturing processes
