The Department of Preventive Medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks highly qualified applicants for a full-time faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Responsibilities include biostatistics collaboration and related methodological development with Cancer Center, and possibly Mesulam Center, investigators in the basic, clinical and population sciences. The Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center (RHLCCC), with 8 research programs and 14 shared resources, is a national leader in scientific discovery, advancement of medical knowledge and delivery of state-of-the-art cancer care. This position would include affiliation with the RHLCCC’s Quantitative Data Sciences Core (QDSC), the central resource for biostatistics, bioinformatics and clinical informatics support for the cancer research community. Strength of expertise is sought for all phases of cancer clinical trials that span a range of complexity in terms of design, implementation and analysis. The position will include participation in protocol development, protocol review, data monitoring review and cancer-related educational initiatives. Responsibilities may also include collaboration with Northwestern’s Mesulam Center for Cognitive Neurology and Alzheimer's Disease faculty; biostatistics leadership opportunities within the Mesulam Center can be considered. Applicants with an interest in conducting research in related areas of statistical methodology (for example targeted therapeutics, radiomics, integration of multiple data sources) and/or with a track record of cancer and/or Alzheimer’s disease related collaborations are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities also include supervision of Master’s level statistical analysts and teaching one quarter-long course per year in that Master of Biostatistics or Master of Public Health Program.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Biostatistics or Statistics, experience and interest in collaborating with bio-medical investigators, scientific productivity related to biostatistical methodology, excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of multidisciplinary teams. Academic primary appointment will be in the Division of Biostatistics, Department of Preventive Medicine, Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University. This full-time faculty position carries the title Assistant or Associate Professor and is part of the Team Scientist faculty track. The Department of Preventive Medicine’s Division of Biostatistics consists of more than 20 faculty biostatisticians who provide a collegial environment, with a departmental history of mentoring junior faculty biostatisticians. As part of general faculty responsibilities, participation in department meetings as well as departmental, school and university-wide committees is expected. Participation in scientific meetings and scholarly activities to build national reputation are encouraged and expected.
