Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Statistician/ Data Scientist located in Richmond, California.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Partnering with the business to identify opportunities to apply statistics, data science, and analytics techniques to achieve business value.
Deploying effective statistical analyses, problem solving, data science, analytics, and optimization techniques (e.g., experimental design, predictive modeling, multivariate methods, hypothesis testing, time series, sample size estimation, simulation, etc.) focused on improving decision making, facilitating exploratory chemistry, validating marketing claims, improving process capability, and developing strategic positions.
Designing, prototyping, creating, testing, maintaining, and supporting analytical solutions and insights.
Playing a critical part in both the scalability and increased visibility of work across Oronite Product & Technology maximizing the value of statistics, data science, and analytics.
Providing thought leadership in terms of data engineering efforts to build and sustain future data architecture enabling various analytics efforts while collaborating with relevant IT teams.
Building analytics organizational capability among data citizens across Oronite Product & Technology by training, mentoring, coaching, and developing partnerships on various key projects.
Visualizing data in a meaningful way enabling the business to quickly draw conclusions and make decisions.
Framing new statistics, data science, and analytics opportunities with business stakeholders to gain business insight and improve decision making, work flow, and automation.
Master’s degree in Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics or Science
Demonstrated competency in statistics, data science, and analytics including linear models, experimental design, hypothesis testing, multivariate analysis, predictive modeling, etc.
Proficiency in relevant software (e.g. SAS, JMP, R or Python)
Ability to learn and evaluate technical information to synthesize meaningful conclusions and recommendations
Demonstrated effective communication skills (face-to-face meetings, presentations, written, verbal)
Strong consulting skills with ability to influence with integrity
Ph.D. degree in Statistics
Work experience implementing advanced analytics solutions
Preferred 3+ Years of directly related work experience. Strong coding skills in at least one of the following R, Python, Matlab, or SAS
Teamwork experience based on trust, ingenuity, and partnership
Demonstrated ability to lead through high performance vision and embracing diversity
Knowledge and experience with statistics as applied to technology development, decision making, chemistry, and manufacturing processes
Relocation may be considered.
Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
