Data Management Services, Inc., is currently seeking a Director for Statistical Consulting Services in Cancer and AIDS research.
Directs, plans, organizes, implements, and performs statistical and mathematical consulting services to senior scientists, investigators and physicians at the National Cancer Institute at Frederick. Serves as a statistical consultant, analyst and coauthor to senior investigators. Directs, instructs and teaches statisticians, data scientists, programmers and other computer professionals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides statistical expertise to scientists and staff in general/generalized linear/nonlinear models, mixed and random effects models, univariate and multivariate analysis of variance, and repeated measures analyses.
Provides statistical expertise to scientists in survival analyses, proportional hazards regression, logistic, loglinear, logit and Poisson regression analyses.
Provides expertise in supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques, discriminant and classification analyses, and random forests.
Implements principles of dynamic documentation in report writing. Mixes source code, tables, graphs and equations with narrative; executes source code and returns results within the dynamic document.
Prepares summary and results sections for publication in scientific (refereed) journals. Prepares memoranda, written reports and summaries. Writes clear and concise prose to summarize quantitative processes and statistical analyses.
Reviews/evaluates manuscripts for acceptance in peer-reviewed journals. Responds to reviewers’ queries on statistical matters of submitted manuscripts.
Studies/develops new statistical methodologies, e.g., R packages. Reads textbooks, the Internet, journals and software manuals to increase/update knowledge of statistical theory, methods and software.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.) or equivalent.
Five to ten years related experience and/or training.
Demonstrated writing ability through peer-reviewed publications.
LANGUAGE and COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to analyze and interpret complex statistical, biological, and scientific material.
Ability to draw out investigator queries and to provide closure and structure on scientific questions and concerns.
Ability to prepare informative talks, slide presentations, and to provide written reports and manuscripts.
Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced statistical theory.
Ability to effectively utilize computerized statistical software such as R, R Studio, R Markdown, Python, SAS, STATA and MATLAB.
Qualified candidates must be eligible for permanent, full-time employment in the United States without DMS sponsorship. Employment is subject to obtaining a U.S. Government Public Trust Security Clearance.
