The Department of Health Services Management and Policy at the East Tennessee State University College of Public Health is recruiting for three full-time Research Associates to support and advance its growing research programs. These faculty positions are funded by a multi-year research grant focused on reducing unintended pregnancy and expanding access to reproductive health services. The successful candidates will be responsible for leading and collaborating on data analyses across multiple research projects; development and implementation of analytic strategy; management of large datasets; the application of appropriate statistical methods; interpretation of findings; and maintaining effective communication with project leaders and key partners. These positions will contribute to research planning, manuscript and report drafting, and dissemination of findings. Successful candidates will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of investigators, staff, and research assistants. Priority will be given to candidates with demonstrated skills and experience analyzing claims data, survey data, and/or administrative data.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and experience in quantitative research and evaluation methodologies for the social sciences.
Demonstrated ability to use SAS, STATA, or R statistical software packages for data management and analysis.
Demonstrated ability to apply appropriate statistical methods for complex research designs involving cross-sectional and/or longitudinal data.
Knowledge of relational database management systems and SQL
Demonstrated proficiency using computers programs for word processing, presentation, data entry, and data analysis.
Demonstrated ability to manage large datasets with data management best practice methods.
Demonstrated proficiency in scientific and technical writing and program evaluation.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to prepare manuscripts and evaluation reports for publication and dissemination.
Ability to coordinate multiple resources and tasks.
Possess strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work productively with multiple audiences including faculty, staff, and students.
Demonstrated ability to work as an essential member of a highly functioning and diverse research team.
(1) Doctoral degree in public health/social sciences, statistics or a related field, or, Master’s degree with 1 – 3 years of work experience applying quantitative research methods; (2) training in research methodology, statistical analysis and scientific writing.
Three or more years of experience in research project data management and analysis; record of scientific publications; previous experience in a university environment.
