The University of Illinois Cancer Center invites applications for an open-rank faculty position to serve as a Senior Biostatistician. Successful candidates will have experience with Phase I clinical trials.
Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience. The academic home college/department for this position will be determined based on the optimal fit with the candidate's research and disciplinary orientation.
Responsibilities include: designing and developing clinical trials, scientific review of protocols, instrument and data collection design, probability sampling, randomization routines, sample size determination and power analysis and supporting investigator-initiated clinical trials.
The Biostatistician should be familiar with Baynesian monitoring strategies, dose-finding strategies, adaptive randomization, and screening designs. This position will collaborate with Cancer Center members involved in all stages of the research process, from the design stage, through data analysis to scientific interpretation.
PhD or equivalent required.
A minimum of five years of experience in Phase I clinical trials design and statistical analysis. Experience in Phase I single- or multi-institutional industry sponsored trials to Phase III multi-institutional cooperative group trials highly preferred.
Thorough knowledge of power analysis. Ability to compute statistical power and assess implications of available sample sizes under a variety of study conditions.
Thorough knowledge of multivariate statistical procedures including methods for analysis of population-based large samples.
Demonstrated skills using SAS, R, Stata, SPSS, and other statistical programs.
Strong written and oral communication skills including the ability to write clear, structured statistical assessments in health related areas for grant proposals, manuscripts, presentations, and reports.
Ability to design and maintain research data base.
