We are seeking a R&D Mathematics for our Statistical Sciences department to perform statistical analysis and methodology development. Statisticians within the department participate as collaborators, principal investigators, and consultants in a broad range of activities that extend across and outside the Laboratories by guiding statistical expertise and support to all of Sandia mission areas. The activities include project participation (via statistical analysis and methodology development), applied research and development, instructing, and publishing. Areas of emphasis include design of experiments, industrial statistics, statistical quality control, probabilistic modeling and computer simulation, Bayesian statistics, spatial data analysis, functional data analysis, data mining, reliability and maintainability analysis, margin and uncertainty analysis, and metrology.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Work primarily in the areas of Industrial or manufacturing statistics including design of experiments, exploratory data analysis, statistical quality control, regression methods, reliability and maintainability analysis, margin and uncertainty analysis, and metrology.
Work closely with Sandia project teams to help them better collect, analyze and interpret data to optimize products and processes.
Work on multidisciplinary teams to solve engineering problems and have outstanding communication skills and team work experience.
The Statistical Sciences department provides innovative statistical solutions to help tackle the most challenging national security problems and are leaders in the advancement of statistical methodologies for national defense applications. Through research, teamwork, and education we inform the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data to help Sandia execute its missions. Master's Degree in Statistics, Operations Research, Reliability Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
Experience working in an engineering environment.
Undergraduate or graduate coursework in an engineering discipline.
Knowledge of and experience with designing, planning, and executing research, design, and development projects.
Exceptional teaming and communication skills.
Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level security clearance.
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
