Responsible for the administration, supervision and coordination of the College’s Institutional Research Department. Research functions include providing comprehensive support for planning, assessment, program review, accreditation, and grant proposals as well as providing required data reports to state and federal agencies. This position will collaborate with the President’s Executive Cabinet to manage the strategic planning process, establish goals/measures and provide reporting services. Responsible for all federal, state and institutional reports as well as College wide survey administration. This position is required to effectively work with all areas of the College and manages the Institutional Review Board (IRB).
This position is a full-time position (262-day contract); salary commensurate with experience and qualifications, with a minimum annual starting salary of $75,000.

The Director of Institutional Research, Planning and Effectiveness will abide by the employment contract and relevant policies and guidelines of the Board of Trustees.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Coordinates and administers the College’s institutional research activities including collecting, analyzing, interpreting and reporting information. • Collaborate with Academic Affairs Division to support program review, accreditation, assessment and evaluation initiatives. • Responsible for the coordination, management, and evaluation of College’s strategic planning, assessment, institutional effectiveness and other data related initiatives. • Collect and maintain College-wide assessment results, which include analyzing and interpreting data for informed decision making. • Collaborates with Academic Affairs Division to manage and collect student learning assessment data and provides reports/analysis on outcomes to all stakeholders • Coordinate continuing research studies in the areas of budgeting, staffing, facilities as well as employee and student needs. This will require working closely with the College’s administrative team that have responsibilities for these areas. • Assists in coordinating the annual planning and institutional effectiveness processes with the annual budgeting process. • Conducts special projects and studies to address decision-making needs of the College and for senior administrative staff and the president, as assigned. • Assists in the preparation, follow-up, and reporting requirements for the Higher Learning Commission (AQIP), Iowa Department of Education and in the College’s efforts to secure grants. • Coordinates the collection and submission of data for the purpose of meeting state and federal reporting and accreditation requirements. • Monitor the overall integrity of data, complying with state and federal requirements and taking appropriate steps to correct data discrepancies when needed. • Develop and implement processes for collecting and analyzing data from a variety of sources including internal systems, state and federal agencies, higher education institutions, and employers. • Provide consultation to College personnel on research methodology, data management, analysis and interpretation. • Provides leadership and direction for the College’s “Data Reporting Team”. The Data Reporting Team reviews, prioritizes and completes reporting/data requests. • Prepare state, federal, and College accountability reports according to documented requirements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. • Provides support and training related to the use of data for continuous quality improvement initiatives. • Develop, communicate and manage process for employees to request data related needs. • Collaborate with Information Technology Services Division to capture, maintain and organize data in a secure environment. • Manage design, development and implementation of internal and external collection tools. (surveys, focused groups, external reports/organizations, etc.) • Serve as liaison with national, regional and state organizations to promote and support intuitional research needs at Southeastern Community College. • Design, update and maintain the Institutional Research presence on Hawknet and the public Web site. • Provide leadership and support for the College’s institutional review board while serving as SCC’s IRB Senior Officer. • Perform assigned responsibilities according to the College’s Policies and Administrative Guidelines. • Manage institutional research budget. • Must be able to work on a basis of “available as work demands” in addition to a fixed schedule • Commitment to the comprehensive community College philosophy. • Other duties as assigned.

• Master’s Degree from accredited institution in research design, educational research, statistics or related field. Doctorate preferred. • Minimum experience of two years in research design, planning, assessment and evaluation activities in higher education. Community College experience preferred. • Experience in research methodology, including standard qualitative and quantitative methods and procedures applied to education. • Experience collecting, maintaining and presenting data for strategic planning and institutional effectiveness initiatives/presentations. • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with instructional program review and all levels of institutional assessment. • Knowledge of higher education state and federal reporting requirements/regulations. • Knowledge of questionnaire design and survey methodology. • Experience working with and extracting data from a student information system. (Ellucian Colleague preferred) • Ability to derive and present data into different formats and present in a media based on the needs of different stakeholders. • Ability to manage confidential data/communication. • Proficiency in data collection, analysis and interpretation tools. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, ACCES), SQL databases and SPSS statistical software. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administration, faculty, staff, students and the public. • Ability to work effectively with employees and stakeholders from culturally diverse backgrounds. • Excellent interpersonal, analytical and communication skills. • Ability to plan, organize and complete multiple responsibilities within required timelines. • Ability to develop and pursue professional development opportunities to keep skills current.
