The Director of Research - Biostatistics will direct and manage the Research Biostatistics team within the Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE) and work to advance biostatistics education and research within Atrium Health as part of the CORE leadership team. Responsibilities include providing leadership to design research studies in collaboration with physician and scientist investigators across Atrium Health and implementing appropriate statistical methods to analyze study outcomes. Additional responsibilities include developing and delivering biostatistics education via seminars for medical practitioners and trainees at Atrium Health, consulting on study design and implementation for research grants and protocols, and applying advanced statistical methods to evaluate health care outcomes. This position comes with a faculty appointment commensurate with experience.
•Leads a highly-skilled team of statisticians.
•Recommends and implements advanced statistical and computational methods to deliver insights and strategic opportunities to improve the quality, patient experience, and cost of healthcare.
•Establishes scalable, efficient and automated processes for data analyses and model development, validation and implementation.
•Manipulates, combines, and refines databases to produce information suitable for analysis.
•Assists with the design of research protocols including sample size calculations and randomization.
•Writes statistical methodologies and results for technical reports and publications.
•Prepares analysis plans for grant proposals.
•Collaborates with researchers to shape and direct research questions.
•Helps design and optimize data collection and data management processes.
•Designs and delivers biostatistics education for physicians, advanced practice providers and medical trainees
•Publishes in peer-reviewed scientific journals and other high-quality scientific outlets. Demonstrates thought leadership by acquiring and maintaining industry and market intelligence on local, regional and national healthcare issues impacting the System.

Works in a fast-paced research and administrative environment. This position requires the ability to stand, walk, sit, lift, speak, hear, and use telephone. Is responsible for working in a safe manner.
Education, Experience and Certifications
PhD in Biostatistics or Statistics or closely related field required.
Experience leading and mentoring a team.
Minimum 8 years experience in research, including oversight of research groups and professional experience in the healthcare/medical field.
Thorough knowledge of SAS and experience with database development.
Experience with R and other programming languages.
Extensive technical writing experience required.
