The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Pacific University is excited to announce its new undergraduate major in Data Science. We are seeking a new colleague to occupy a tenure-track position, Assistant or Associate Professor of Data Science, and to work with us as we launch and grow this new program. The new faculty member will teach courses emphasizing both theory and application in, among other things, statistical modeling and regression, machine learning, and data mining.
Faculty at Pacific University are dedicated to undergraduate education. The successful candidate for this position will demonstrate the potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and in scholarship, and a commitment to service. While candidates with a Masters degree in Data Science will be considered, a Ph.D. in Data Science or a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field (with an expertise in data science) completed by September 2020 is preferred.
Our department is housed in the College of Arts & Sciences, a selective, private undergraduate liberal arts college of approximately 1800 students.
