The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Santa Clara University, a Jesuit, Catholic University, is offering a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in theoretical Statistics or any applied area of Statistics (e.g., Biostatistics). Tenure stream faculty are expected to balance a commitment to quality undergraduate teaching with an active, sustainable research and publication program, as well as provide effective service to the Department, College, and University. Candidates should be prepared to teach six courses per academic year during three quarters. The position begins September 1, 2020, by which time a Ph.D in Statistics or a closely aligned field is required. The closing date for applications is November 30, 2019. Successful candidates must have a strong commitment to excellent teaching, the ability to establish and maintain an active research program, and provide service to the Department, College, or University. Teaching responsibilities will include development and teaching of traditional lower-division coursework as well as upper-division coursework suitable for the candidate’s area of expertise, as well as student advising and mentoring. The official load for tenure-track faculty is seven courses over three academic quarters, with a one-course reduction for research-active faculty; that is, the typical load is two 10-week courses per academic quarter, for three quarters.
