Diversity is a core value of CIS, SDS, and Cornell, and we seek candidates who will create a climate that attracts students of all races, nationalities, abilities, and genders. We strongly encourage women and underrepresented minorities to apply. We are working to create more equitable opportunities for underrepresented groups to participate in university life in research and teaching, across ranks, and among faculty, students, and staff. The Diversity Statement provides an opportunity for applicants to reflect on how they and their approach to research, teaching, and/or service examines, identifies, and/or will contribute to positive social change that supports people who represent differences in gender, class, race, ethnicity, religious affiliation, national and cultural boundaries, national origin, worldview, intellectual origin, ability, and other identities. We invite you to be reflective and describe where you stand to contribute, learn and grow with regard to issues of diversity, inclusion, equity, and justice, and your potential to mentor and educate students who will serve diverse populations. In short, we would like to know, what does “diversity” in academic teaching, service, and research mean to you?
