The CARRA Registry Biostatistician/Data Analyst will report to the CARRA Registry Scientific Director, and work closely with the CARRA investigators, on the analysis of data in a long-term observational registry of patients with pediatric rheumatic disease. This is a part-time contracted position, estimated at 15 -20 hours/week with the potential for growth/additional effort in the future.
Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in biostatistics or related field (e.g., epidemiology)
Minimum 3 years’ experience in medical/clinical data manipulation and analyses (SAS or R)
Strong English language communication skills
Experience designing and conducting analyses of complex observational data (e.g., administrative claims, registries, Electronic Health Record (EHR))
Ability to work extended hours on occasion when required
Become highly familiar with Registry data structure, data elements, and idiosyncrasies of data collection. Develop full understanding of the strengths and limitations of the data and the implications for data analyses.
Develop statistical analysis plans in coordination with physician and epidemiologist investigators. Provide consultation as needed regarding optimal statistical methods and analysis designs.
Frequent email and periodic conference call (1-4 hours per month per project) communications are anticipated.
Perform required data cleaning and manipulation prior to analyses.
Perform statistical analyses as described in statistical analysis plans.
Identify and trouble shoot unanticipated problems with the analyses or results (i.e., quality control and quality assurance practices). Recommend revision to statistical analysis plans as necessary.
Communicate results with investigators. Generate all necessary figures and tables.
Provide technical details and input for academic publications. Co-authorship credit is expected.
Communicate regularly with the Registry data coordinating center (Duke University) for initial introduction to the Registry and for ongoing updates to the Registry data structure or data collection practices.
