The Statistical and Applied Mathematical Sciences Institute (SAMSI) is soliciting applications from statistical and mathematical scientists for up three postdoctoral positions for the SAMSI research programs in 2020-2021. The three programs are:
Numerical Analysis in Data Science, anchored at North Carolina State University
Data Science in the Social and Behavioral Sciences, anchored at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Combinatorial Probability, anchored at Duke University
Appointments will be one year in length, tentatively from August 1, 2020 to July 31, 2021. Appointments are made jointly between SAMSI and one of its partner universities (Duke University, North Carolina State University, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill). The positions offer extremely competitive salaries, a travel stipend, and health insurance benefits. PhD must be conferred by position start date.
See samsi.info for more information on our 20-21 programs.
Applications should be submitted to http://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/16355
Criteria for selection of SAMSI Postdoctoral Fellows include demonstrated research ability in statistics or applied mathematics, excellent computational skills, good verbal and written communications skills, and a strong commitment to collaborative learning and research. Also, the preferred applicant will have a strong interest in one or more of the research programs scheduled for 2020-2021. The deadline for full consideration is June 30, 2020, although later applications will be considered until the position(s) are filled. Please specify which SAMSI programs you are applying for in your cover letter and why you believe you would be a good fit for those programs.
The Statistical and Applied Mathematical Sciences Institute (SAMSI), was established in 2002. SAMSI is a partnership of Duke University, North Carolina State University (NCSU), and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). SAMSI is part of the Mathematical Sciences Institutes program of the Division of Mathematical Sciences at the National Science Foundation.
