The Section of Cancer Center Statistics, within the Division of Biomedical Statistics andInformatics, houses the Biostatistics Shared Resource of the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center and the Statistical Center for the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology. The Section has provided expert statistical collaboration with cancer investigators for over 35 years and has a rich tradition of methodological research in clinical trials, survival analysis, surrogate endpoints, quality of life methods, and high dimensional data. It currently houses 14 PhDs, 19 Masters Statisticians, and 27 bachelors- trained statisticians.
The Division of Biomedical Statistics & Informatics in the Department of Health Sciences Research is seeking applications for a funding dependent Faculty Position in the Section of Cancer Center Statistics.
Candidates should have a PhD in statistics or a related field. Between 3-5 years of experience working in the area of patient reported outcomes, clinical trials focused on symptom intervention and cancer control, and health outcomes research is desirable. A successful candidate must possess:
A sound understanding of the basic principles of clinical trial design and analysis, patient reported outcomes and health outcomes research
An ability to assimilate relevant information and initiate new areas of research particularly in the areas of clinical trial design, quality of life methods, and health outcomes research
An ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and clinicians
Leadership skills with the ability to give scientific direction to a team of statisticians. Flexibility, creativity and excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
