Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) – Portland State University (PSU) School of Public Health (SPH) seeks candidates with strong training in statistics/biostatistics, or related areas, as well as excellent teaching and collaborative skills. This 12-month position will be at assistant professor level and the faculty member will primarily teach graduate level core biostatistics courses (1-2 per term), develop and teach elective biostatistics courses in a substantive topic, advise and mentor graduate students, as well as engage in scholarly activities and contribute to the shared governance of the School. The faculty member will also have the opportunity to develop a research program with a mixture of collaborative and independent research and/or participate in the Biostatistics & Design Program, OHSU’s core resource for biostatistics collaboration. This position is housed at OHSU and reports to (supervisor): Richard Johnson, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, and the incoming faculty will be part of the Biostatistics group within the SPH at OHSU.
A PhD or equivalent degree in statistics, biostatistics or related discipline by the position start date.
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences
Commitment to educational equity and promotion of diversity
Experience teaching graduate level courses in biostatistics or related topic areas
Experience with online teaching, including online curriculum development and assessment
Experience providing mentoring and/or advising graduate students
Experience in collaborative biostatistics research and/or interest in conducting independently-funded research
