Nature of Work:
The Adult and Child Consortium for Health Outcomes Research and Delivery Science (ACCORDS) and the Division of Health Policy and Research, Department of Medicine at the University of Colorado seek a faculty member with expertise in biostatistics and health-related research experience. Candidates should be at the level of Associate or Full Professor or equivalent. This faculty position will have their academic affiliation in the Division of Health Care Policy and Research in the Department of Medicine and will lead a well-established Biostatistics & Analytics Core in ACCORDS. Specific areas of interest include expertise in pragmatic trials, step-wedge designs, longitudinal data, causal inference, cluster-randomized trials, and analysis of electronic health records.
ACCORDS is a research center supporting the advancement of pragmatic research in health, health services research and T3-T4 translational research. ACCORDS is jointly funded by the School of Medicine and Children’s Hospital Colorado. ACCORDS serves as the focal point for health care professionals, researchers, and analysts from across the Anschutz Medical Campus to foster multidisciplinary collaborations that bring together our campus’ diverse skills and talents to pursue health services research and education. In addition, ACCORDS cultivates strong research and educational collaborations with an array of partners including the Colorado School of Public Health, Children’s Hospital Colorado, Denver Health, Kaiser Permanente Colorado, University of Colorado Health, community organizations, and state and local government agencies. ACCORDS has programs in Dissemination and Implementation Science, Patient-Centered Decision Making, Education, Data Science, and Community Engagement and Outreach, as well as cores in Qualitative and Mixed Methods Science, Practice-Based Research Networks (PBRNs), Biostatistics & Analytics for Health Services Research, Economic Analysis, and Mobile Health and Health Information Technology. The ACCORDS Biostatistics & Analytics Core is an essential component needed to achieve ACCORDS’s research and educational missions.
The mission of the Division of Health Care Policy and Research (HCPR) is to design and conduct health services research, policy analyses and evaluations of innovations, programs and policies that increase the value of healthcare services from multiple perspectives across the lifespan and generations. Faculty members investigate how implementation (as well as de-implementation when appropriate), dissemination and sustainability of innovations in healthcare services, organizational structure, payment models, and quality improvement and measurement approaches influence value throughout our health care system. In addition to grant-funded projects, HCPR actively pursues contract funding from federal and state government agencies that represent unique opportunities for funding acquisition.
The successful candidate will lead the ACCORDS Biostatistics & Analytics Core as a key member of a diverse and experienced team of analysts, data scientists, and biostatisticians. Responsibilities include mentoring junior biostatisticians and data analysts, managing time allocations for the Core’s biostatisticians, and contributing to ACCORDS’ educational mission. In addition to leading the Core, the candidate will have institutional funding to consult with faculty on applied research projects and preparing proposals to secure external funding. The incumbent will engage in collaborative research as part of an interdisciplinary team on multiple grant-funded projects with colleagues across the Anschutz Medical Campus. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to develop and conduct original methodological research, if desired. Additional responsibilities include contributing to our educational mission, mentoring post-docs and faculty across the various ACCORDS-sponsored fellowships, and supporting other educational programs across campus. The successful candidate will also have the ability to recruit multiple new faculty members and will be able to hire post-doctoral scholars.
This is a full-time, 12-month position, to start as soon as possible with substantial non-grant secured funding for consultation and development roles. This posting seeks experienced individuals with prior collaborative research experience and funding. Substantial experience writing portions of grants at the federal level (e.g., R01 awards at NIH/AHRQ or equivalent) is required. The position will involve significant consulting with and mentoring other faculty on relevant research methods, grant applications, and publications. The rank of appointment within the School of Medicine will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. ACCORDS offers a hybrid work environment with a mixture of on-site and off-site work.
