UQ’s Health Research Accelerator Initiative
Addressing the world’s most pressing health and medical research challenges requires a transformative approach that nurtures different perspectives, expertise and embraces diversity to achieve more than what can be accomplished in a traditional research model. That is what UQ’s Health Research Accelerator, or HERA, will achieve.
Through HERA, we will bring together researchers, partners and end-users who share a common goal, ethos and passion to create novel solutions by leveraging combined capabilities, backgrounds and perspectives.
University of Queensland cLinical TRials cApability (ULTRA) Program
Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) are an important component of the Australian healthcare system as they provide the gold standard, most robust evidence about the comparative effectiveness and cost effectiveness of interventions. Evidence from RCTs transforms healthcare, shapes decisions about healthcare expenditure, and most importantly, when translated, improves the health of the population.
The ULTRA Program aims to create Australia’s most successful interdisciplinary team in innovative RCT design, conduct and analyses to attract RCT funding, collaborate to deliver RCTs rapidly and ensure results can be translated for patient benefit.
About This Opportunity
We are seeking to appoint a Professor (known locally as Professorial Research Fellow) of Innovative Clinical Trials, to provide methodological leadership and statistical expertise to the newly established ULTRA Program. This is an exceptional opportunity to build, develop and lead a world-class team of methodological experts in innovation in clinical trials.
As the most senior role in the ULTRA team, The Professorial Research Fellow of Innovative Clinical Trials will engage in research that sustains their reputation for outstanding research and international leadership in the design and analysis of innovative clinical trials. At this level the incumbent will make outstanding contributions in service and engagement roles and activities.
