Plaksha University is reimagining technology education through the development of a transformational model of engineering education and research that integrates technology, design, entrepreneurship, and social sciences. We are building a thriving research and innovation ecosystem that focuses on interdisciplinary approaches and development of cutting-edge technology to address grand challenges including clean energy, sustainable agriculture, digital health and inclusive education. 

Faculty will also be part of the new Data Science Institute at Plaksha, and contribute to interdisciplinary research and the development of innovative undergraduate and graduate programs in Data Science and related areas. Plaksha’s Data Science Institute seeks to advance the foundations and practice of Data Science and welcomes applications from researchers working in any area at the intersection of data science, computer science, artificial intelligence, statistics, and computing, and their application to real-world and domain-specific problems.

We invite academicians and scientists who are passionate about interdisciplinary and impactful research and teaching to apply for tenure-track/tenured/visiting faculty positions. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, computer science, AI/ML, data science, applied mathematics, statistics, economics, operations research, computational social science, and design thinking. 

PhD scholars and postdoctoral fellows who are keen to start their academic career are also encouraged to apply. For exceptional candidates, Chair Faculty positions are also available.

Role & Responsibilities:

The responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral level including the development of innovative curriculum and pedagogy, conducting research, and helping to build research centers & laboratories of global eminence, along with innovative curriculum and pedagogy.  Faculty are expected to:

• Teach up to 3 courses per year (1 course = 3 credits = up to 42 contact hours per semester)
• Contribute to Plaksha’s research mission by participating in its world-class research program that involves supervising undergraduate and graduate students, PhD scholars, and post-doctoral fellows
• Raise research funds through government and private agencies and international consortiums.

Desired Candidate Profile – Faculty of Data Science:

• A Ph.D. in the field of computer science, statistics, data science, or a related field, from a world class university with an excellent track record of intellectual impact.
• Research expertise in either the foundations of Data Science or applications in other disciplines including the Biomedical Science, Economics, and Social Sciences.    
• Some international experience is desirable.
