The Department of Family and Preventive Medicine’s (DFPM) Division of Occupational and Environmental Health (OEH) at the University of Utah School of Medicine is seeking exceptional candidates for a statistician or biostatistician faculty position. Rank and track are dependent on qualifications. We seek applications from exceptional individuals in statistics or biostatistics. This exciting open-track position is with a growing, nationally-recognized Occupational Injury Prevention (OIP) MS and PhD program and includes responsibilities in areas of research, teaching, and administration with significant innovative potential. In addition to classroom and/or distance-based teaching, student guidance and research, this may also involve up to 25% administration and service activities for successful applicant at a more senior-level appointment.
This faculty position is dedicated to both the collaborative support of the Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (RMCOEH) and for conducting extramurally-funded research as either a co-investigator or principal investigator. The RMCOEH is one of the USA’s 18 Education and Research Centers in OEH, is a multi-university center with programs also at Weber State University and spans the U.Utah campus to include the Ergonomics and Safety program in Mechanical Engineering (MEEN) and Economics. Teaching opportunities for this position include graduate OEH and MEEN. Additional opportunities include administration/service, and collaborative research/statistical consulting. The successful candidate is encouraged to collaborate with the broader biostatistics community at the University of Utah through affiliation with the Division of Biostatistics in the Department of Population Health Sciences and through membership in the Study Design and Biostatistics Center (SDBC) of the University of Utah’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI).

Job Summary:
The primary responsibilities of this position include: developing and maintaining an extramurally-funded research program; teaching up to two graduate courses per year; recruiting and mentoring graduate students; and performing service to the University and profession. Appointment at advanced rank may involve up to 25% effort in administrative service activities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The position requires supervision and mentorship of graduate students. Appointment at advanced rank requires mentorship of junior faculty, and assuming more administrative responsibilities, as needed.
Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a doctoral degree in statistics or biostatistics from an accredited institution of higher education. Candidates interested in positions on the tenure track are expected to demonstrate excellent potential (Assistant Professor) or a track record (Associate/Full Professor) of obtaining extramural funding to advance their research program. Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills in English are required.
Qualified individuals with substantive expertise in the expert integration of statistics with occupational health, environmental health, public health, epidemiology, health services research, community-engaged research, mixed methods, translational science, clinical research, and implementation science research are strongly encouraged to apply.

• Postdoctoral or fellowship research training
• Strong record of peer-reviewed publications
• Strong record of obtaining extramural research funding
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively on concurrent research projects
