The Midwest Area has approximately 270 scientists, 650 support staff, and 13 locations within 9 states in the Midwest. The statistician is responsible for providing statistical consulting to Midwest Area scientists, including advising on experimental designs, appropriate statistical analyses, review of project descriptions and manuscripts for appropriate statistical methods, and assessing and facilitating Midwest Area training on statistical methods, including high performance computing and associated statistical methods (e.g. Artificial Intelligence analyses and methods). The mission of the Agricultural Research Service is to deliver scientific solutions to national and global agricultural challenges. Incumbent will contribute to this mission by ensuring that appropriate statistical methods are used so that research results are reliable and reproducible.
