The Department of Biostatistics at Brown University School of Public Health is currently searching for Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor applicants on the Teaching Scholar Track. We seek exceptional candidates with a demonstrated commitment to statistical and health data science education and research, with interest or experience in innovative pedagogical methods including online and asynchronous teaching. We are particularly interested in applicants who would teach statistical theories (including biostatistics and data science); computing and programming methods; quantitative analysis methods (including study designs); modern big data and statistical learning techniques; and interdisciplinary education.  

 An appointment will be made at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor on a renewable term basis. These teaching scholars will support our new online MS (Spring 2025) as well as our traditional residential MS program through coursework and student mentorship. They also will have the opportunity to be involved with other Departmental graduate programs.  An interest in scholarship related to public health education is also welcomed. It is not expected that the prospective candidate achieve independence as an investigator or maintain a portfolio of extramural funding.

For applicants to the Associate or Full Professor level, candidates should have a strong record as a teaching scholar with exceptional skills as an educator and a demonstration of a major teaching role in a graduate program or within a department. This may include primary leadership of a required course or substantial elective course offered annually or supervision of a Master’s degree program; leadership experience that incorporates online, innovative coursework is strongly preferred as is national engagement with public health pedagogy.

About Brown University School of Public Health

The new faculty member will also become a member of a highly interdisciplinary Biostatistics faculty in the Brown University School of Public Health. Building on its methodologic and domain research strength in the analysis of large health care databases, causal inference, diagnostic imaging evaluation and radiomics, computational biology and bioinformatics, Bayesian methodology, research synthesis, and neuroscience, the Department is now emphasizing growth in research and educational activity in health data science. Biostatistics is a core member of the University’s Data Science Initiative.
