The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Assistant Professor in Statistics, Department of Mathematical Sciences [R0140846].

The successful candidate is expected to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels, publish in refereed research journals, pursue external funding, and supervise graduate students. In addition, the candidate is expected to provide service to the department, college, university, and the profession. The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to teaching and mentoring students from different backgrounds with diverse life experiences and learning styles.

A tenure-track position in the Department of Mathematical Sciences, specializing in Statistics or closely related areas, commencing Spring/Fall 2025.  

PROFILE of the DEPARTMENT/COLLEGE - INCLUDE COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY

The Department of Mathematical Sciences currently has 30 regular faculty members and around 45 graduate students. It offers BA, BS, MS and PhD degrees in Mathematical Sciences. The Department is part of the College of Sciences, which also include the departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Physics and Astronomy, Geoscience, and Life Sciences. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Ph.D. in Statistics or Ph.D. in Mathematical Sciences with demonstrated expertise in Statistics from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate commitment to excellence in both teaching and scholarly activities in the frontiers of statistics.
