Full time, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Data Science.
We are looking for someone who is dedicated and passionate about teaching and promoting Data Science, while providing service for the department and maintaining an active research agenda in the data science field.
The Department of Engineering, Computing, and Mathematical Sciences includes Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, and Computer Engineering. It consists of over 40 full-time faculty members serving over 1200 students in a variety of programs.
Responsibilities:
Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration, and active support of the University’s Mission in Catholic and Lasallian higher education.
-Teach 24 semester hours per academic year -Service to the department and university -Continued scholarship in the field of data science
The new faculty member will teach and regularly update a variety of courses for our data science programs. Candidates must have a commitment to preparing future data scientists for successful careers, and a willingness to teach courses in various modalities, which include blended, online, and multi-option courses. The candidate should be able to teach both in-person and online courses during the day and evenings. The new faculty member will assist with the program’s assessment efforts, including collecting and organizing assessment data, and perform other servicing duties required by the program, department, college, and the University. The new faculty member will be required to maintain an active research agenda in data science and work with undergraduate and graduate students.
The priority closing date is December 1st, 2024, but we will continue to review and accept applications until the position is filled. This tenure-track position would start Fall 2025.
The candidate must have a Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or another related field or a master’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline with 5 or more years of industry experience. The candidate must have a passion for teaching a variety of data science courses to undergraduate and graduate students and to engage in research related to data science. The candidate must be an innovative self-starter willing to design, implement, and teach courses in data science and to help grow our programs.
