The Department of Biostatistics, the only statistics department in University at Buffalo – The State University of New York seeks applicants for multiple Tenure-Track Assistant Professor positions. Each position is a 12-month, tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor rank that begins fall 2025 or earlier.
The Department seeks candidates in all areas of biostatistics/statistics and data science. Potential areas of interest include but are not limited to statistical computing, Bayesian modeling, causal inference, clinical trials and analysis of complex large-scale data such as omics data, wearable tech, and electronic health record, with specific preference for candidates whose research contributes to methodology in artificial intelligence. In addition, excellent candidates with other general statistical/biostatistical research topics will be considered and are highly encouraged to apply.
Evaluation of candidates will be based on research productivity, potential for development of an independent research program and capability of teaching. Preference will be given to candidates with experience and/or strong interest in interdisciplinary research. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an extramurally funded independent research program, with emphasis on graduate-level teaching, mentor graduate and undergraduate students, develop interdisciplinary collaborations and engage in service activities. About the Department of Biostatistics: The Department of Biostatistics currently offers an undergraduate major and minor in statistics, along with three Masters level programs and a Ph.D. program. Doctoral level training (Ph.D. or equivalent) in statistics/biostatistics or related quantitative fields.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong track record of peer-reviewed publications
Evidence of proposing and obtaining funded research
Experience teaching graduate-level courses in biostatistics and/or mentoring graduate students
