The Department of Statistics at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon seeks applicants with interest in teaching and research in methodological and/or applied statistics and data science. We are looking for multiple open-rank tenure-track positions (including at least one Assistant Professor). We are seeking energetic and creative statisticians with an interest in data science, especially those with a broad range of interests in data-driven methodological and collaborative research and who will contribute to the development and teaching of courses in data science and statistics. We encourage applications from candidates with potential to collaborate with researchers in one of OSU’s four priority areas: climate science and related solutions, clean energy technology, robotics, or integrated health and biotechnology.
The positions involve:
Teaching courses at the graduate and undergraduate level in Statistics and Data Science
Developing a program of research and scholarship in statistics and/or data science that is recognized at the national and international levels and collaborating with colleagues on and off campus as appropriate in the development of the scholarly work
Seeking grant and contract funding
Mentoring MS and PhD students
Fostering an environment of inclusion and diversity
Providing service to the department and institution in support of their missions
We are a collegial department consisting of 23 faculty members including 15 tenure-track, approximately 15 PhD students, and 40 MS students. In addition to our on-campus graduate programs in Statistics, we offer a popular online MS program in Data Analytics and are starting to offer a new undergraduate BS in Data Science.
