The Department of Statistics at Iowa State University, jointly administered by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, invites applications for a 9-month Assistant/Associate/Full Professor (tenure-track or tenured) faculty position. The successful candidate will provide statistical consulting support for the university community, collaborate with world-class researchers at Iowa State in statistics and other disciplines, develop and sustain a high-quality and high-impact research program, and successfully compete for external funding. Further, the successful candidate will engage in professional and institutional service, teach graduate and undergraduate statistics courses, and advise graduate students in one of the first and largest statistics graduate programs in the country.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in statistics or a closely related discipline by start date
Associate Professor: For consideration at the associate professor rank, in addition to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in statistics or a closely related discipline, applicants must have demonstrated ability in statistical consulting and must meet the department, college, and university standards for appointment at the associate professor rank with tenure, including excellence in scholarship that establishes significant contributions to the field or profession with potential for national distinction, and a high likelihood of sustained contributions to the field or profession and to the university.
Professor: For consideration at the professor rank, in addition to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in statistics or a closely related discipline, applicants must have demonstrated ability in statistical consulting and must meet the department, college, and university standards for appointment at the professor rank with tenure, including national distinction in scholarship, as evidenced by wide recognition and outstanding contributions to the field or profession and the ability to sustain contributions to the field or profession and to the university.
Preferred Qualifications:
Foundational knowledge of probability and statistics
The ability to teach statistics courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels to majors in both Statistics and the applied sciences
The ability to develop and sustain a high-impact research program with the potential to secure external research funding
The ability to collaborate effectively and participate in multi-disciplinary research teams with researchers across various disciplines, such as the agriculture and life sciences, the social sciences, and other liberal arts and sciences
